PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I have quite a varying range of professional experience! I've provided emergency care to manatees in Central America, and served up specialty coffees at a bustling café in London, England.

I used to feel that my job history was too unrelated and that it would serve as a weakness when entering a new career. But now I see it for what it truly is - one of my greatest strengths!

Working around the world in very different fields has given me a wealth of valuable skills; from navigating language barriers in the workplace to keeping calm and following through with responsibilities at all times- even during a tropical hurricane!

One of my passions is using my artistic skills to help build personal branding for new businesses and start-ups! I’ve worked with numerous small businesses to help create logos, designs, and bring their artistic ideas to life.

Let me tell you a little more about my more recent professional experiences!

PEER TUTOR - SAULT COLLEGE

December 2021 - Present

During my time in the Office Administration-Executive program, the Peer Tutoring team at Sault College offered me a position as a Peer Tutor. I've really enjoyed the job over the past few months! It feels really great to help others, and going over assignments with my peers helps me to better understand the course material as well- a win win situation!

ELP PAINTING - VICTORIA, BC

September 2020 - January 2021

ELP is a painting company operating in Victoria, BC. I worked with ELP for a season and learned the ins and outs of residential painting! Often times, we found ourselves working in homes valued at 2 million-dollars plus, so professionalism and efficiency was crucial.

Not long after I started with ELP Painting, the owner asked me to design a logo for the company. This was one of the first times I had the chance to incorporate my artistic self into my work life, so it was quite exciting. After working with the owner and brainstorming on what image he wanted to be reflected, I came up with the ELP Painting logo, which you can see in the photo below!

TEAM LEADER - GRAHAM CONSTRUCTION

October 2017 - June 2018

I was employed by Graham Construction to take part in the Saskatchewan Hospital project in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Starting out as a skilled laborer, I was quickly promoted to Team Leader of the night shift labor crew. I was responsible for a crew ranging from ten to twenty members, and my job was to delegate and oversee the tasks/assignments of my team.

This was my first experience in a supervisory role, and there were definitely some learning curves! Navigating the supervisor-crew relationship dynamic was new to me, and it took some time getting used to being a 'boss.' The promotion came with its difficulties, but overall I found it very rewarding. Having a crew that you can enjoy working with, while still being respected as a supervisor, was a wonderful experience!

ANIMAL CARE - BELIZE, COSTA RICA, AND CANADA

A variety of experiences throughout my life

I love animals.

I always have, and I've been lucky enough in life to be able to work with wildlife in a variety of settings. As a young adult, I spent a lot of time volunteering with the BC SPCA and interning at the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society on Vancouver Island, BC.

In the summer of 2017, I traveled to Central America where I got the chance to work for a couple different non-profits who commit their lives to protecting wildlife. One of my favorite roles I took on during my travels was being a surrogate mother for four infant Yucatan Black Howler Monkeys!

This was through WildTracks , a non-profit organization in Belize that focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of local wildlife. It was dirty, difficult, and - at times - stressful work, but the rewards were definitely worth it. I loved every minute I got to spend with the young monkeys; they truly are just like human toddlers. I also got the chance to assist in the rehabilitation of an orphaned manatee during my time with Wild Tracks, an experience I will never forget.

DESIGNING LOGOS FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

Over the past couple years, I've helped small businesses develop their own personal brand through logo design.

Below are some examples of the work I've created!
