GET TO KNOW ME

Originally from Vancouver Island, BC, I moved to Sault Ste. Marie in the summer of 2021 with my amazing partner! I am excited to grow some roots here in the 'Soo' and start my new career as an Office Professional.

 

 

Three words that best reflect me: Compassionate, Creative, and Listener

 

Compassionate because it is so important to show compassion for others in everything we do. I’ve always been a sensitive person and for as long as I can remember, people have told me that this is a bad thing. I never agreed with them. I believe that being sensitive and compassionate towards others is a strength, not a weakness. The day I stop having compassion for others is the day I will stop being me.

 

Creative because I love to draw, paint, write short stories and poems, and play music. Drawing/cartooning is a passion of mine, and I try to make time every day to get some drawing done. Creating and making art is a huge stress reliever for me, I can lose myself in it and forget about the world. I feel that I shine whenever there is an opportunity for creativity at work!

 

Listener because I have always been a good listener, and I strive to improve my listening skills with each day. Oftentimes I find that strangers tend to spill their story to me, whether it be on a public bus, in a café, at the library etc. I usually sit and listen, and I’ve heard some pretty interesting stories! Listening is a valuable skill; you can truly make a difference in a person’s life just by listening. There is an important difference in ‘simply listening to respond’ and ‘truly listening.’ You can always tell when someone is only waiting until you finish speaking so they can speak.

 

I am a soon to be graduate of the Office Administration-Executive program at Sault College. Upon graduation of this diploma program, I will have the skills to start a successful career in administration! I've found myself employed in many different jobs across varying fields. Working in a variety of different countries with people from all walks of life, has given me a unique perspective of the world.
